ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

Well, you’ve really done it now. You’ve bumped into Dave Allem’s world.

It won’t hurt, I promise. In fact, I hope you’ll find yourself laughing at some stories and finding your spirit grow. Maybe you’ll also find that Lifeisbestwhen we see it as an adventure.

That’s why I write…to remind myself I’m on an adventure. And to find the good news in every single day. I’m happiest when I help people find the good news in their own adventures.

My current adventure swirls around the real life drama of teaching middle school and teaching at my church. For years, I coached varsity football and loved it. But now, in the few empty spaces in my life, I morph into a marriage counselor, public speaker, retreat speaker and good news detective. My greatest adventures are traveled with my wife, my three boys and daughter-in-law…and my two rescue dogs.

I would like to think I could get honorary Masters degrees in Ridiculous Humor, Mildly Excellent Guitar, and Football – with a Fine Arts minor (I paint, badly). My three official Masters degrees are in Education, Theology and Biblical Studies. I think the letters are B.S., M.Ed., MDiv., but I prefer M.Done.

I also led a group of Jesus-followers to form a faith community from the ground up. One of these days I will archive some of my favorite series:

“What It Takes to Overcome Worry”

“Dealing Positively with Disappointment”

“How God Grows Confidence in Us”

When you check out the LifeIsBestWhen blog, you’ll see the mundane strikes me as sacred – and sometimes hilarious. The obvious appears extraordinary. It’s probably a byproduct of my ADHD. Or maybe it’s a gift. Or as one of my freshman said to me recently, “There’s something really wrong with you.”

My journey’s been blessed with mentors who challenge me with spiritually deep and practical ideas that I want to pass on to you.

So, consider taking me with you on your journey. Enjoy with me and others the re-enchantment of everyday life and find your good news.

For an encouraging, challenging few minutes every week, just sign up for my weekly post on the right. I’ll deliver it to your inbox to read or listen to on my podcast. Drop me a note here if you have questions or comments for me.

And thanks for spending time on LifeIsBestWhen.
